Welcome to Word First—where we put Scripture at the center of the questions that matter most.
We’re Mike and Melissa Kruger, and we’re here to help you think biblically about God, faith, family, and life.
We believe these questions are answered best in Scripture. Word First exists to offer thoughtful, accessible, and Christ-centered resources that help you understand God’s Word, engage difficult questions, and follow Christ faithfully in every season.
What You’ll Find at Word First
In our weekly emails, we share biblical and theological reflections, practical encouragement for everyday faith, and a curated selection of our latest work.
That includes new writing from our respective blogs, Canon Fodder and Wit’s End, along with books, Bible studies, lectures, sermons, videos, interviews, and other resources designed to serve you, your family, and the church.
Subscribers will also receive occasional glimpses behind the scenes: what we’re reading and writing, where we’ll be speaking, and early looks at books and other projects in progress.
Whether you have followed our work for years or have only just discovered Word First, our hope is the same: that what you find here will deepen your confidence in God’s Word and encourage you to live by it.
About Mike and Melissa
Mike is the Samuel C. Patterson Chancellor’s Professor of New Testament and Early Christianity at Reformed Theological Seminary. A leading scholar on the origins of the New Testament and the development of the canon, he writes and speaks for both academic and popular audiences. He is the author of fourteen books, including Bully Pulpit and Surviving Religion 101, and writes regularly at Canon Fodder.
Melissa serves as vice president of women’s initiatives for The Gospel Coalition. She writes and teaches to encourage Christians to walk faithfully with God through every season of life. Her books include The Envy of Eve, Walking with God in the Season of Motherhood, Growing Together, Wherever You Go, I Want You to Know, and Parenting with Hope. She writes regularly at Wit’s End.
Our work takes different forms—from New Testament scholarship and theological conversation to Bible studies and practical discipleship—but it grows from the same confidence in the truth, sufficiency, and goodness of God’s Word.
Word First is the shared home for that work.
Put the Word First
Our aim is simple: to defend the truth of God’s Word, declare the good news it contains, and disciple others to follow it.
If that is something you want more of in your inbox and in your life, we’d be grateful to have you join us.
