Welcome to our new website! We have just launched Word First to be the new online home for our ministry content, and we are thrilled.
For years, we’ve been laboring in our respective ministry areas and have produced content on our blogs Canon Fodder and Wit’s End. And that will not stop—we will still produce content on these sites.
But as our online content has continued to grow beyond these blogs, and as we have had increasing opportunities to collaborate together on books and ministry projects, we decided it was time to create a central online hub for our ministries.
So, Word First will be the new place to go if you want to access our latest content, listen to our podcasts, or learn what we are up to.
New Name
We chose the name Word First because it highlights the central value we share, and that is to put God’s Word first in all of life, and to help others to do the same.
This is captured well by Martin Luther’s well-known declaration as he looked back upon the protestant reformation: “I did nothing; the Word did everything.”
So everything about the mission of Word First is centered on the Scriptures. The mission statement makes this plain:
“Word First is dedicated to defending the truth of God’s word, declaring the good news it contains, and discipling others to follow it.”
New Logo
The centrality of the word of God is also captured in our new logo (see picture below).
The logo has an overall shape of a “W”—reminding one of the Word—but the curved shape of that letter also invokes an image of an open book.
Beyond this, the image of the sun rising in the background not only tells us that God’s Word is the first thing we turn to as the day begins, but that the Word is also a “light to my path” (Ps 119:105).
New Features
As the central hub for our ministry content, Word First has a number of exciting new features. There is space here only to highlight a few of them:
New search engine. As our ministry content is spread all over the internet, our new site makes it easy to find it all in one place. The user can search our content by topic, by author, by medium, and more. And all of this content will be available without leaving Word First.
New video series. As this new site launches, Mike will also be launching a new video series called Surviving Religion 101, named after his Crossway book of the same title. Drawing on his 25 years as a biblical scholar, he will be tackling some of the toughest intellectual questions faced by Christians today. Subscribers will have early access to the videos when they’re released!
New newsletter. We will be launching a newsletter that will provide unique subscriber content, behind the scenes news, and encouraging devotions to encourage your walk with God. It’s also a chance for a more personal glimpse into the things we enjoy, from movies to food and beyond! You can find it here on Substack, and make sure you subscribe to get email notifications!
New social media channels. In addition to the website, there will be two new social media channels: Instagram (@wordfirstministries) and YouTube (@wordfirstministry). The YouTube channel will also house all our video content, including the video series Surviving Religion 101.
We are so excited to launch this new website. We hope it’s a blessing to many who are looking for solid Christ-centered content that is built on the trustworthiness of God’s Word. We hope you will subscribe, share it with others, and follow us on Instagram and YouTube!
